Faculty and Staff



Kelly Brown

Kelly has received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Auburn University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  He has taught Fine Arts and Art History at Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State and Oak Ridge Art Center.  He was the winner of the 2005 Unsung Hero Award from Metro Pulse, a Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Award, and recipient of numerous art and climbing awards. In addition, Kelly is also a commissioned artist.

Classes: drawing, sculpture; 3-D art, film, videography, wilderness skills, camping, climbing, U. S. history, cooking. Lead Teacher.

Jeff Kilgore

Jeff has received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he also completed graduate courses in Education.  His teaching experience includes being a lab instructor and teaching assistant for the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, a teaching assistant for the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences, and the astronomy consultant to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Athletic Department.

Classes:  math, physics,”rocket science”, history, philosophy,  SAT preparation, world history, U. S. government.  Academic Director.

Gary Woody

Gary has received a Bachelor of Arts and B.A. and has progressed to a Doctorate (ABD) level in Chemistry at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he has performed graduate work in Physics and acted as a teaching assistant in the Chemistry Department. A ham radio operator, Gary is also a native Knoxvillian.

Classes: chemistry, astronomy, photography, metallurgy, woodworking, “rocket science.”

Shelly Woodrick

Shelly serves as School Administrator.  Her professional background is a diverse mix of media experience, sales & marketing, event planning, office and project administration.  Shelly is a former board member and past President of the Tennessee International Dyslexia Association (TNDA) .  Her efforts with TNDA produced successful fund raising events, a boost in memberships and increased awareness of and solutions to learning for Dyslexic children.

Lori Sloan

Lori received a Bachelors of Fine Art with a concentration in Education and Textiles from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville ,TN. She is currently a graduate student in the Teacher Education Program at the University of Tennessee. She has been teaching in various classroom settings for 5 years. She recently took five student volunteers to an International Youth Meeting in Graz, Austria for three weeks. She is the Vice President of Communications for the National Art Education Association University of Tennessee chapter and volunteers with the chapters service schools projects throughout Knoxville.

Julianne Brandt

Julianne graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a focus on Biology. She has taught with Knox County schools, was a lab assistant for the Chemistry Department at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and taught the First Aid merit badge at Camp Buck Toms. Julianne is dedicated to community service and regularly helps her service sorority, Omega Phi Alpha.
